CESA 10’s Teaching Academy is an educator preparation program. We offer DPI-approved pathways for teachers to obtain add on license areas. Our pathways:
Add-on Licensure Pathways for Teachers
- Reading Teacher 1316 Certification
- The Reading Teacher 1316 license is designed for teachers who currently hold a WI teaching license. Our 12-18-month licensure program consists of coursework, clinical experience, and a capstone portfolio. The coursework is grounded in the latest research and science behind how children learn to read. The research-based content is paired with practices embedded within the coursework and aims to expand the teacher’s knowledge and skills, preparing them to meet a wide range of literacy needs.

Program Overview
Admission Process
The Reading Teacher 1316 license program is part of CESA 10’s Teaching Academy. It is designed for teachers who already hold a valid Tier II or higher WI teaching license.
Course Work Timeline
Our 12-18-month licensure program consists of coursework, clinical experience, and a capstone portfolio. The coursework is grounded in the latest research and the science behind how children learn to read. The research-based content is paired with practices embedded within the coursework and aims to expand the teacher’s knowledge and skills, preparing them to meet a wide range of literacy needs.
Course Description
Our 10-week clinical experience allows students to apply their learning to practice and receive coaching and feedback course instructors and site-based cooperating teachers. Finally, the capstone portfolio provides evidence of proficiency in the content, and its application and the Wisconsin Teaching Standards.
Program Costs
The curriculum for the Reading Teacher 1316 licensure program was developed using Wisconsin's Guiding Principles for Teaching and Learning, WI ELA Standards, ELA Instructional Practice Guides, current reading research informed by ILA Content Guidelines for Reading Specialists/Reading Teachers, and the ILA Standards.
